OUR TIME DOWN HERE – LAST LIGHT
Due to the fact every piece of technology I own has formed some kind of unholy alliance to overthrow me, I spent a good two hours downloading this record. In that time my inner 18 year old was getting edgy, the kid that had been to every (what seemed like weekly) OTDH show at the King Alf’s and sang along. I had heard that this album was a huge step from the old records, and of course that’s not a bad thing it’s good for a band to progress, I just really didn’t want one of my favourite bands to release something I wasn’t into. Finally the download came and to say I was surprised is a disgustingly huge understatement. At first, I really didn’t know what to think, it just sounded like a hardcore tinged pop punk record with Will singing, not a shout or a “power fucking through” in sight. Slowly, after a few listens through, it became very clear. Although this doesn’t fall under my usual taste, it is an outstanding record. Every tune is incredibly well written (aside from one bum note in “tiny teeth”) the lyrics hold no pretension - perfectly layered happy songs about sad things. Perfectly honest. Taking from their roots and influences (Matt Skiba would be proud) whilst holding onto the huge “sing along” vibe, this is a brave step in a new direction and even though I hate to say it, a thoroughly more marketable one. OTDH have such large potential to do great things at the moment. Who gives a fuck about YMA6, put OTDH on Radio One and the main stage at Reading. Give all the money and attention to five guys who not only have worked really hard for it for such a long time, but truly deserve it. Ok maybe it won’t lead to them doing a quirky interview with Scott Mills or one of them fucking Hayley Williams but I predict big things for these guys in the future.
4/5 hearing is believing, head over to these various sites to pick it up, you won’t regret it. Alternatively seek them out at a show and discuss it at length with them, they’ll like that. Honest

THE VALIANT - THIS IS JUST THE BEGINNING EP
For the past year the valiant have been really making a name for themselves in the Southampton metal scene, with a clean and impressive live show, a solid backbone of fans, new management and tours in the works I was expecting a lot from this record.
Was I disappointed? If I’m honest.. yeah a little. I had expected it to be a little heavier, more technical and less melodic. But not everything has to be in drop A and played at 280 bpm, I need to remember that sometimes. Although the contrast between heavy and melodic works so well with the Valiant in this record I still feel the cleaner vocal took away from the impact of some tracks, not to say anything about the vocal itself, which in the majority is interesting and well executed, but I felt sometimes I was being set up for a huge high-five and left hanging as the song progressed. But that’s it, that’s all the negative shit I’ve to say about this record the rest I loved. Really well written, really well produced (what’s crackin’ Johns) catchy breaks that just stick with you - the kind of breaks you’ll try and fail to sing in the shower time and time again. On the whole it flows well, although I found it a grower most metal lovers will be all over this mother. I’m really looking forward to hearing what’s to come of the valiant, if this is only the beginning I want to be around to hear the swan song.
3/5 don’t like what I’ve got to say? Head over to http://thevaliantuk.bigcartel.com/ buy the record and judge for yourself, am I being confrontational…or conning you into supporting the Southampton music scene by buying a record? Controversial.

THE BOY I USED TO BE – The boy I used to be self-titled EP
January is gloomy, like. Really gloomy. It seems like months since we’ve seen a decent splash of sunshine and whatever has been graciously sloshed our way has been hastily viewed from the inside of an office or a painfully long bus journey….or something, but isn’t this all just part of being British? The question I put to you is, when you’ve settled down in your living room, cradling a comforting cuppa after a hard weekend floating around Bedford place, where do you turn when you run out of hobnobs? Sainsbury’s? No. let me tell you my friend you don’t have fight your way through the wilds of the polygon this time. Forearmed is forewarned old boy and after reading this you’ll have promptly nipped online (like you weren’t already) and purchased the brand new EP from not so local The Boy I Used To be. Young Ed’s(or boy if you want to get informal) brand of stripped down acoustic indie soars miles above the standard bland-o-thon trickling out of Southampton’s wine bars and lands itself directly in the “I shit you not” category of excellence, whist being moody without pretension and happy without turning you diabetic this newest release is set to become a Monday night favourite, ushering you though the week until the next episode of polyoaks and jaeger bombs sets upon us. You can pick it up by searching “the boy I used to be” on Facebook or MySpace. You can even have a cheeky taster of a few tracks too, mmmmm freebies.
Yes that is the kind of crap that passes for a review now a days. Sounds like someone had their MDMA flakes this morning, but there are some valid points in there, I like the “shit you not” bit. 3/5…or 4/5? WHO KNOWS. No its 3. But is it? Yes. But REALLY. Yes, 3/5. (4/5)

DESOLATED – THE SIXTH DAY E.P
Luckily for me I managed to get this record a little early with my usual gypsy tactic of smooth talking overly drunk band members at UNIT (and by smooth talking I mean the subtle application of Rohypnol to Carling). If you have any cunning about yourself you would have already checked out the title track they oh so generously put up on the Facebook page and most probably said something along the lines of “fuuuuuuuuuuuuuccccccccccckkkkkkkkkkkk” shortly after hitting the almighty play button. Yes we are all aware that track is excellent, but what was this E.P all about? This is where I would usually spout a stream of vaguely relevant comedic references about the song structure and lyrics, not today. This is less of a review and more of a longwinded marriage proposal. The Sixth Day is one of the best metal records I’ve had the pleasure of listening to this year, bringing together perfectly executed down-tempo hardcore with the crushing death metal breaks that we know and love Desolated for. Not only that this record drips with groove and holds tightly to a dark atmosphere without sounding like a bunch of moody fifteen year old bastards. There are a lot of bands doing a similar thing in the scene at the moment and frankly, a lot of them do it badly. The Sixth day is living proof that it can be done well, VERY well. The only issue I have with it is that it was far too short; I can’t wait to see what Desolated can produce with a full album. Overall this record was very well produced, tastefully and interestingly written and totally fucking awesome. If you just didn’t think Brutality Will prevail were heavy enough this record is for you. Go out and buy it and learn the words, go to shows and get involved. These guys deserve a lot of praise and respect for this record but don’t just listen to my ramblings get over to http://antisocialrecords.bigcartel.com/ and check it out for yourself.
Well it’s safe to say I’m going to have to be suitably horrible about everything else I review now to balance out that disgustingly glowing review. I’m pretty sure it’s safe to say this gets a grand old,
5/5….yeah really this time.

CARDINALS – CARDINALS
Anyone who knows me well enough to know my middle name and phobias knows I’m a sucker for melodic layered indie. I like feeling depressed and calmly empowered, that’s just how it is. HOWEVER not many bands can make me get all flustered and force me to start writing a review before I’ve even let it play out, as it plays through my typing becomes more and more frantic, trying to do it justice as it floods out waves of beautifully constructed melody and melancholy over me. Hit pause. Calm down. Carry on.
This self-titled EP is just what he doctor ordered, other than valium and a hot new secretary, needless to say I’m seriously into it. Musically it couldn’t get any bigger, build-ups that actually go somewhere, vocally melodies that meld and glisten with sorrow. I mean I have nothing bad to say about it, NOTHING. Maybe I listen to too much metal and this was just a well deserved breath of fresh air for me. Or maybe its just really, REALLY good.
The whole record is littered with chord progressions and intertwining licks that just feel right, every note slotting into place masterfully, resonating in your stomach all the way up through your spine and deep into those endorphin producing glands buried away in your grey matter. In short you need this record, or you need to hear it at least once.
Yeah I like it, I like it a lot and in light of that
5/5 no shits, no foolin’. Go catch them on tour and tell them how great they are.

ECHOES – TRANSITIONS
Musically interesting to a degree, but mostly vocally boring. Do I have to say more?……fine.
I didn’t think I’d enjoy this record, and I did I’ll be honest. But that’s not to say it wasn’t lacking.
For a band with two vocalists the whole record was pretty samey vocally, I found myself bored after track three - yeah I get it, you really like the epic vibe but does it all have to be so predictable? In fairness the chord progressions are interesting, but covered in a tremolo delay so think Philadelphia could replace their cream cheese with it. But that’s just their thing, it’s what they do and fuck me they do it well, I guess I’m just not that into it.
However.
The path these boys have laid out from themselves to get here stretches 7 months long, to me this record is the culmination of their efforts and a foundation to build upon, everyone in this city knows who they are and they don’t have a bad reputation. At all. Not that Echoes are doing anything new in comparison, it is fairly interesting (even though it leaves me a little numb after a while) you can tell they love what they do, this record does scream passion and dedication, even if it is in the same voice everyone else has been screaming it in. For me the title and closing tracks Branches and The Burden are the golden ones, however everything in-between just sounds like a shadow of the two, not to call it filler, but I’d spread it on hovis and take it to work for my lunch.
Although this will do really well, and I mean really well in Southampton and maybe the UK in general, it’s not for me. I can appreciate the effort and time that’s gone into this record but I just can’t get into it so for that
3/5 let’s see what else you can do boys.

FLOOD THE SKY – THE DEMO THAT I DIDN’T BOTHER TO READ THE TITLE OF
Ahem, well where do I start? I know you’re all thinking that I’m going to tear this a new faecal matter spouting orifice, then beat it to death with its own imperfections.
No. I shant. For once I’m going to be reasonable and fair, I’ve said a lot of shit about these guys and I feel slightly guilty so let’s get all non-biased on this shit.
Aside from the whole record sounding like WILL I AM decided to do a metal album one afternoon in between rimming auto tune and picking out a new set of ridiculous sunglasses the tones and song writing are pretty fucking tight, musically they can’t be faulted and considering they did this all in a tiny bedroom in Botley it sounds reasonably huge (if not a little too computerized)
To put it metaphorically this album is a gigantic metal pizza, cooked reasonably well with the freshest catchy ingredients, a base of perfectly executed riffage and impressive drumming throughout , seasoned with singalongable lyrics and melodies. Top that shit with some vaguely experimental synth and well written breaks and there you have it – sounds pretty tasty right? WRONG. Some fucker has cracked a raw egg RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE (they do that in France and some parts of Italy, look it up..totally ruins a good pizza) and that raw egg is a hideous mix of over-elaborate vocal melodies and computer effects that simply ruin a good song. Now I’ve heard these songs before they had the soul reworked out of them and I know full well that the vocals have been twisted into a shape that’s appealing to the ear (apart from the last acoustic track where the vocals are so out of key a locksmith couldn’t correct them) now I hear you saying “dude what’s the problem? A LOT of artists use auto tune get over it” my qualm is this, in a live scenario you can’t have a little monkey boy tuning your hideously warbly vocals at the drop of a hat. Live you will be disappointed and probably be singing more in tune than them.
But all the blame doesn’t rest squarely on Toby Young’s shoulders, Jamie Morgan’s vocals are weak in places (although they have improved greatly from the early days) and I’m fairly sure they have been tweaked just a little (or a lot)
However that’s it, that’s all the neg I’ve got in me for this record, and although it pains me to say it, I like it. Well not all of it, some select parts of it. In general it sounds like Enter Shikari got hyped up on coke and steroids, down tuned the fuck out of itself then held down and raped funeral for a friend. Repeatedly. Nine months later out pops the slightly deformed baby Flood the Sky, but don’t worry about that, they have all the auto tune and computers in the world to make them pretty again. Basically Flood The Sky are one of the better metal core bands in Southampton, leading the trail as it were. Even though they are hated by a fair few people that doesn’t seem to be slowing them down an inch, I suspect pretty good things from these boys for they are of course another Toby Young creation and as much as I don’t like to admit it, they always do well.
So what’s my verdict? Yeah ok, its pretty good. Could do with some work, or less work as the case may be but I’d recommend it if your into this kind of metal hardcore. Its catchy and heavy where it needs to be, and yes I do find myself singing their songs despite my aversion to them which HAS to amount for something right?
3/5 – better than I thought it would be, I wouldn’t listen to it at home, or anywhere else. But you might http://www.facebook.com/Floodthesky?sk=app_178091127385 listen to them there and buy a record or go to a show. You may just enjoy it, I mean I wont, but you might

CAPSULE – NO GHOST
I FUCKING LOVE CAPSULE, I really do. If you are a first time capsule listener this record is 5/5, supremely brilliant, dripping in awesome and capsules brand of perfection/insanity.
NO GHOST is an amazing record, there are no two ways about it, but unfortunately for me capsules record BLUE is one of my favourite records of all time and no ghost just isn’t the same breed of animal.
It would be rude and hugely disrespectful to call this a step backwards, as much as it would be call it a step forwards. The last few records released have been progressive and atmospheric whereas no ghost is a lot more “publically palatable” – if anything this is a tactical sidestep.
Although I should take every record as it comes and not put it back to back with its predecessors it’s difficult for me not to make them stand up against the wall and mark off how much they’ve grown in the recent years. What stands out to me the most is the metamorphosis from a technical jam band with pained vocals dribbled though the sea of atmospheric riffage and repetitive sections that last for what seems like an eternity of emotive bliss to a relatively vocally heavy band. There are lyrics, LOTS OF THEM, so many that you could sing along and maybe even learn them properly? Everything seems a little dumbed down, well no that’s an unfair statement this record is still perfectly written, not a boring note in it, not a dull section to speak of. It just seems like capsule have finally taken their medication and settled down a bit, started to write songs the average alternative music fan can pick up and love. Immediately
If I were to detach myself from the person I already am, and the knowledge I have of this band I would love this record a lot more than I do, and I mean I love it, one of the best this year, but to me it just seems like a cop out?
However with age comes maturity, and these are some pretty old dudes. Maybe this is the sound of maturity, and yeah its clearly a much more marketable direction to be going it, it’s not as if they’ve lost the sound at all, it’s still the same capsule just in different packaging. Brighter, nicer packaging.
On how the record sounds the production is second to none, like a tiramisu of musical excellence. No Ghost is perfectly layered and mixed – smooth and creamy with enough kick in it to keep you interested. It’s hard for me not to sound like I’m really down on this record, I mean it really is great and I highly recommend It, but as I said earlier for the new capsule fan this album is 5/5. Musical perfection, but if you were a fan beforehand it may not be exactly to your tastes.
Luckily for all of you there’s no need to purchase it (although you should, nothing beats carbon copies) as the whole thing is online http://www.decibelmagazine.com/listen/exclusive-stream-the-new-capsule-album/ here, THANKS DECIBEL MAGAZINE FOR PUTTING THAT SHIT UP
So what do I think?
4/5.
Amazing record, I mean really really great. But for me it was just lacking a little, what can I say, I’m one choosy mother fucker.

GOODTIME BOYS – ARE WE HERE NOW, OR HAVE WE EVER BEEN?
Back in January I went to the goodtime boys headline show at UNIT, maybe it was the fact they were recording their video or that the previous bands had built up an energy so thick you could have spread it on an onion bagel, but the show these lads laid down was easily one of the best I have ever seen, period. I remember thinking to myself “this is the best band in the world right now, how can I have not seen them before” so when I heard about the record coming out and that you could stream it in its entirety for FUCKING FREEyou can imagine my excitement.
So as I settled myself in to write yet another glowing review about these good time boys a sharp pang of worry shoots through my stomach. What if this isn’t what I thought it would be? Sure they had an incredible live show, but would the vocalist throwing up onstage and saying “I don’t care, I don’t care!” while the front row cleans off their shoes really translate well on record? Sure the bassist nearly decapitated me a few times when he tore through the crowd like a bear with MS but would that same terror project itself out of my speakers?
Well….
Its safe to say that Goodtime boys have one of the most original styles of hardcore going at the moment, atmospheric and huge while remaining strained and almost fragile in places. Maybe this record doesn’t ring with terror and vomit but it DOES demand that you recognise its passion and musical genius. With layer after layer of droning yet intricate guitars that lead you on an angulating journey of relaxation and devastation you’ll want to take again and again, not to say this is a chill out mix of doom but the way they flawlessly meld light and dark tones it would make you think Michael Jackson never died at all.
The production and flow of the record is unparalleled, Lewis Johns you’ve done it again, perfectly encapsulating the goodtime boy’s vibe in one five track work of art.
Now although vocalist Alex Pennie has come a seriously long way since his days in the automatic (yeah, I know right?) His brand of shout talking may not be loved by everyone – especially apparent on the track “sleep”. Personally I’m a big fan, I feel that if you have something to say sometimes you need to be clear about it but I can see how it may not be well received well by the general public.
All in all this is an excellent and refreshingly different release, if not a little samey throughout, however goodtime boys have such a distinctive sound its hard not to catch a negative comment like that.
You can listen to the whole ruddy thing for FREE right here http://goodtimeboysband.bandcamp.com/album/are-we-now-or-have-we-ever-been-2 although i do encourage you to buy yourself a carbon copy or download it, as amazing as it is that bands put out free material they still need to eat and continue to provide us with amazing music and records which most certainly aren’t free to produce.
Aside from a bit of shout talking, this is an outstanding record. 5/5

FULL OF HELL – THAT 7” I DOWNLOADED CAUSE WITCH CULT TOLD ME TO
Yet again WITCH CULT have supplied me with something amazing to listen to, and for once it didn’t come tumbling out of dean and some amplifiers, they recently got me onto this epically rad band FULL OF HELL who have recently put some records up for free download (schweeeeeeeeeeeeeeet)
I fell in love with this as soon as I hit my all powerful play button, mixing gritty down tempo hardcore with powerviolence in an emulsion of trap them/converge style joy. Now usually i can’t get my head around powerviolence but somehow it’s been presented in a way that I can comprehend and enjoy. A lot. Maybe it’s the fact that this record is so full of heavy grooves and skull crushing breaks that tickle my brutal fancy, or maybe it’s because this release is PLAIN AWESOME.
Not much else I can say about these guys apart from check them the fuck out and download both releases here http://www.facebook.com/?ref=logo#!/fullofhell
29/22 mondo awesome..o

THE POOKIE SYNDROME – SELF TITLED.
SWEDEN, THE FINAL FONTIER. Not only do they produce a fine array of beautiful blonde women who we are lead to believe are so well endowed it makes Jordan look like a pair of orange eggs stapled to a fence caked in fake tan and an army of cleverly designed furniture hell bent on making the world an open plan postmodern place to live/exist they ALSO spew epic noise punk in the shape of THE POOKIE SYNDROME.
On a recent field trip to Sweden to review a particularly dominant branch of IKEA I stumbled across this band overdosing on daim cakes and thousands of Swedish meatballs (or POWERNEGI RECORDS sent me the 2009 self-titled 7”…. I can’t recall). In honesty it took me a few listens to get into this record and a fair few more to understand it.
What we have here, my little news junkies, is a surprisingly awesome noisy punk record, injected with skrams, metal and hardcore (or maybe it’s just a hardcore record? Who am I to say….oh..)
The whole record has a real punk style to it, crunchy guitars that have been covered in a metal veil that occasionally break into something a little more technical than your average Mohawk sporting motherfucker. Vocally this EP is intense; I mean I’m really into it. Talk about variation. Highs, the occasional lower note, spoken word and just PURE AGRESSION/PASSION. In short if I was to start a band I would want this guy fronting the back end out of it.
Musically this record hits a lot of the right spots for me, just spazzy enough for me to love it, structured enough for me to REALLY love it, full of amazing breaks and one song that’s basically a ROBOTOSAURUS break (and I am SO gay for robotosaurus) For a four track ep to ring so well with me is almost unheard of (although I say that every time I have something nice to say about anything) however as we all know I’m a pretty cold bastard when it comes to guitar tone, and even though it DOES suit the record, I’m not the biggest fan of it so in light of that
4/5 awesome record, awesome band – even though this was released in 2009 and I’m clearly waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyy behind on them. Maybe new releases will score higher? As usual go buy a record and check it out for yourself at http://powernegi.tumblr.com/

I’LL FIGHT WITH FIRE – ONE DAY THEY’LL HAVE SECRETS
AFTER my first run through of this EP I was left a little dazed and confused, when exactly did set your goals become so camp.. and female fronted? This couldn’t be right, i took a deep breath and poured myself a nice cup of camomile tea to sooth my partially entangled brain, there had to be a reasonable explanation for this…
After my second run through all I could hear was alexisonfire’s most recent record trying desperately to date what was left of paramore, but the unlikely couple were covered in all these vocal harmonies and borderline perplexing layered sections. It was safe to say I was finding this over enthusiastically prepared musical lasagne pretty hard to digest.
I listened again, and again, and yes… i listen to it again. Slowly Alexis and Hayley Williams got the fuck out of there, set your goals were still hanging out, but they were a lot quieter now (apart from that one hideously out of place ’beatdown’ in swimming lessons from a narcoleptic, you know, the one with that fucked up bass synth effect over it? yikes)and slowly, as I knew it surely would, ONE DAY WE’LL HAVE SECRETS crept its way under my skin and laid 10,000 catchy eggs that hatched as the days passed as most oh-so-close-to-irritating pop tends to do.
I’LL FIGHT FIRE WITH FIRE are a combination of supreme musicianship and sheer marketability, this EP is a living testament to that. Although this was a grower (or an infectious musical virus) its managed to suck me in… to a degree. At first I struggled with this EP, however the blend of punk pop and emo (I’m talking TBS, Where you Want to Be – not MCR) with tinges of softer hardcore all held together with very clever song writing grabs you and holds you there until you’ve absorbed what it’s got going to serenade you with.
For right now I don’t think I’LL FIGHT FIRE WITH FIRES have found “that sound” but I do believe they are well on their way to, if not on the outskirts of brilliance. The more I listen to this EP the more pieces of this intricately captivating puzzle I stumble across. However I think if this collective of kids had a few more tracks to work with, just a little bit more room, id be getting the whole picture – right now all I’m getting is the first 800 out if a thousand piece masterpiece
On saying that I feel this record is radio worthy, the not-so-scathing masses will love this, I’LL FIGHT FIRE WITH FIRE are comfortably filling the gap paramore have left them – and they’ve come to the party in skinnies and a SYG shirt, but that’s ok, because they wear it well and hopefully in time they won’t try and be something they’re not with random beatdowns and continue on the path they’ve been beating down for themselves.
Although this record is a little vocally overcomplicated in places and gets a little carried away with the hardcore subgenre its integrated into its underbelly this EP is pretty fantastic, as I said I think that I’LL FIGHT FIRE WITH FIRE are on the verge of a mainstream breakthrough, or at least going to smash through the underground scene like a welsh rugby team in a particularly dainty china shop. I’m sure the next record will bow my fucking teeth out, but for now 3/5 check them out at http://www.facebook.com/illfightwithfire and see what I’m waffling on about.

DOOMED FROM DAY ONE – THE WASTED WORLD
FUCK YEAH.
Its been a good old while since I’ve heard a metal album that wasn’t afraid of what it was, seems to me as a lot of bands now a days have to masquerade as down-tempo hardcore bands or DJ-ing ents to be accepted by the high top wearing flat peak clad masses of today. When did metal become a dirty word? Why do we have to smother it with a sticky layer of two step breaks or lovely clean vocals to make it a palatable morsel? yet again I’m hideously generalising and there actually IS a pretty healthy metal scene throbbing away out there, but it’s nowhere near as reputable as it was say 6 years ago, no one gives a shit about black dahlia murder anymore, suicide silence released some new shit recently, did you care about that….probably not.
But that’s ok, we have a shiny new replacement to cram into our fickle faces.
THE WASTED WORLD has perfectly encapsulated what a good metal record was meant to be, brutally heavy without mashing out your eardrums into sludgy goo(which is great, but you can’t have lobster for dinner every night can you?), dark and atmospheric – but not in a ‘Norway in the winter’ kind of way and simply cram packed with awesome riffs, groovy breaks and technical pieces that will rip your fucking eyes out and DEMAND THAT YOU PAY ATTENTION TO HOW FUCKING TECH THAT WAS, DID YOU HEAR WHAT JUST HAPPENED? WELL FUCKING DID YOU? Not to mention the quintessential shred-tastic ,slightly cheesy solo’s dotted all over the place.
Even with all the beautifully executed ‘essentials’ this record has it hasn’t been afraid to take a sneak peak out of its metal fortress to see what’s been going on with the outside world. Using a fine toothed comb its painstakingly picked through all the interesting little quirks that have been flying around recently. Although I DO hate computerised nonsense it’s been used well in this instance, yes I DID think that the intro was a little pointless and obtrusive but everywhere else it just works. There’s also a slight grinding edge to this record that really sets it off for me especially on the tracks ‘from here on out’ and ‘you were meant to suffer’. Oh, did I mention there’s melodic jazz parts that spring out at you from fucking NOWHERE too?
Yeah I know, melodic jazz, weird huh?
Well no, not really, this record does have a pretty stonking undertone of lamb of god (the record wrath springs to mind) so its unsurprising that the odd clean quasi Latina guitar break would flop itself out from time to time. But that’s ok, it’s cool, its different, and I like it. As I mentioned earlier (in a roundabout over the top sort of way) the musicianship within this band is phenomenal , and most importantly they are all working as one big fucking totally rad unit, like the shred fuelled S.A.S they move as one to perfectly execute that breakdown and overcome that problematic pentatonic sweep section. There’s no singular entity in this band, doomed from day ones spotlight is broad and welcoming as opposed to the narrow pinpoint that a lot of bands seem to favour, which I think teaches us a valuable lesson. Fuck a big name, just bring you’re A game.
Overall Doomed from day one have done an excellent job here, although I don’t think the record flowed as well as it could of as a whole each track stands up for itself with a towering “look how fucking great I am” stance effortlessly. There is no weak track on this record, it truly is all killer and no filler, if good things don’t happen for doomed from day one in the next year or so there is something clinically wrong with the world today.
So yeah, it’s safe to say I liked that one a whole bunch. Check them out at http://www.facebook.com/DoomedFromDayOne and buy the record, you wont regret it…. Unless you really hate metal, in which case I suggest you check out this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mqFLXayD6e8
